Duties/ Responsibilities |
Use your environmental health expertise to help protect and promote community wellbeing. Based in Toowoomba, you’ll deliver a mix of regulatory and advisory services across multiple sites, working with a range of stakeholders to manage health risks in the natural and built environment. This role suits someone who values practical impact, collaboration, and professional integrity. You’ll investigate environmental health concerns, provide advice on public health risks, and contribute to service improvement. You’ll work with local teams, guide junior staff, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure safe, evidence-based practices. The Team Leader Environmental Health provides strategic and people leadership to the Environmental Health team, ensuring Council fulfils its statutory responsibilities while proactively shaping public and environmental health outcomes for the community. The role is accountable for developing strategic documents, policies, and initiatives that establish Council’s direction, align with legislation and best practice, and support the delivery of Council’s Annual and Strategic Plans. The Team Leader builds and leverages networks across government, industry, and the community to strengthen outcomes, influence policy, and enhance collaboration. |

Kernow has been at the forefront of the environmental health industry in Victoria for more than 30 years. With more than 50 Environmental Health Professionals across metro and rural councils plus a large immunisation team and support personnel, our staff have significant expertise and are respected leaders in the field. We have long standing relationships with a number of large and small councils in metro and rural Victoria and provide short-term contracting solutions to various other councils within Victoria.
This Leadership Role is responsible for the Environmental Health teams at Moyne, Ararat and Pyrenees Shires. This role would suit an experienced Environmental Health Leader interested in a tree change within some of Victoria’s most idyllic regional locations.

Duties/ Responsibilities |
The role has operational responsibilities in respect of Moyne Shire and provides managerial oversight of the Ararat and Pyrenees teams (people management of 2 EHOs). The role is responsible for building culture and developing talent within the teams. Part of a network of professional and experienced Environmental Professionals, you will be part of Kernow’s Leadership team and work close with Kernow’s Executive Team.

Qualifications / Selection criteria |
To be successful in this role, you will have recent experience as either a Team Leader, Environmental Health or an experienced Environmental Health Officer operating in a local government environment. Ideally you will have prior people leadership experience. Supplementing this experience, you will possess a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) or other relevant tertiary qualification.
